Redbeard's Ranch is a full-service river-outfitter, providing canoes (aluminum and ABS), rafts,
kayaks and float tubes.
The Niangua River is a Class I
river, meaning that it moves along relatively slowly and has no rapids or
significant obstacles. It is an ideal river for families with small
children, inexperienced paddlers or anyone who wants to enjoy a peaceful
float and incredible Ozark scenery.
Redbeard's Ranch offers 2 options for float trips:
-
2. Short Float: Redbeard's Ranch to Ho Humm
Campground (3.5 miles)
-
The
average paddler takes about 4 hours to make the long trip and 2.5 hours to make
the short trip, depending upon the number
of stops for fishing and wading. Plan on taking more time if you're in a
raft. No matter how hard you paddle, rafts are slow and will only move
along at the speed of the current.
Rentals are
subject to availability and will require advance reservation and deposit. See our policy on reservations.
Canoe Safety
-
Wear a lifejacket (All children ages
7 and under
must wear a personal floatation device while in a canoe).
-
Wear tennis shoes or river shoes to protect
your feet from gravel and sharp rocks. Bring a hat and other cover-up clothing to
protect from sunburn.
-
Avoid rope swings and always check the water
depth before you jump into the water. Never dive into a river.
-
Pack some food and plenty of drinking water to
keep energy levels high and avoid dehydration.
-
Do not consume alcoholic beverages. The
combination of alcohol, sun, and water often results in a dangerous recipe for
boating accidents.
-
Notify someone of your float plan (where you
are putting in and taking out and your estimated time of arrival).
